Word Processing || WEEK 3

         I can still recall back in the days, when I was still in primary school, I love to write so much. Thus, I used Microsoft Word to write my own 'story' by creating a new document and write as much as I can as there is no restriction in the software. Nonetheless, I did not know much about other functions. Hence, the usage was not efficient. Microsoft Word might be amicable to many of us as we use it frequently in our daily lives. However, most of us actually do not know the special functions in the word processing software. In fact, some only use the software for one function, which is to create a document. Having said that, word processing software actually has more functions than we can actually think of.

         Some instances of the functions of word processing software are it enables the user to store documents electronically in a disk, display the documents on-screen and have it physically on hand by print it on the printer. Moreover, if you make any mistake, you can correct the mistake right away. No more worries, no more headache. The work can be done at once without any difficulties.

         Since I will be an educator in the future, I have learnt a lot of new and interesting applications or uses of word processing programme from this week's class, which I can use in my daily life as an educator in the future. First and foremost, as an educator, I can use word processing programme to create lesson plans so that I can keep track with the course of instruction of a lesson, report books where I record daily teaching activities rather than write manually in a physical book and course syllabus which includes an outline of topics to be covered in a course.

         In addition, word processing programme also helps educators to create attractive yet fun notes and activities that can assist the teaching process as the programme allows us to include pictures and illustrations in it. Educators may also use it to produce creative and appealing brochures and flyers by using word processing programme to promote and advertise school events or activities among the students, teachers, parents or even the public. Not only that, this programme also allows us to build our own feedback forms for the students and parents to help in improving the teaching and learning process in school. In short, this word processing programme is definitely a tremendous aid in the teaching process for me in the future.

          Word processing software undoubtedly helps us, especially the teachers, in saving time. It aids teachers to use preparation time more efficiently by letting the teachers modify and improve the materials instead of creating new ones every single time. It also enhances the document appearance as it looks more polished and professional than handwritten documents. Most importantly, the software allows materials to be shared nimbly among teachers and students. Thus, the teachers' work can be minimized, in which, teachers can focus more on other commitments with the students.

          Incredibly, students can also get benefits by using this software, in which, I will highly apply in my classroom in the future. Firstly, the students can make their own outlines or notes in the software as it is much more convenient and neat than hand-written outlines and notes. Other than that, I can also ask them to do assignments and projects in the software for a quality and professional looks. Last but not least, I will also encourage them to write journals or daily activities in the word processing programme to improve their writing skills.

         In conclusion, the word processing programme has numerous functions and benefits that we can exploit in our daily lives especially in the 21st-century teaching and learning system. It is to be hoped that more schools allow the usage of word processing software in the teaching and learning process to assist the teachers and students. Certainly, teachers should learn and acknowledge on how to make use of the word processing software beforehand for a smooth teaching process.
