GOOGLE FORM || WEEK 9

I usually use Google Form to create a survey for my research assignment. However, the purpose of Google Form is far beyond than that. We can create customer feedback surveys, job applications, RSVP forms, quizzes, order forms, time-off requests, and many more! Among these purposes, most of them can be used as a teaching and learning tool such as surveys, quizzes, or event registration sheets.

What is Google Forms ?

Google Forms is a survey administration app that is included in the Google Drive office suite along with Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google Slides. In other words, it is a web-based app used to create forms for data collection purposes.

The form is web-based and can be shared with respondents by sending a link, emailing a message, or embedding it into a web page or blog post. Data gathered using the form is typically stored in a spreadsheet. Although there are other online survey apps, Google Forms is an excellent free option with just a few steps to get started.

How to get started ?
  1. Go to docs.google.com/forms
  2. Click 'Blank' +. A new form will open.
  3. Add, edit, or format text, images, or videos in a form.
  4. When you're ready, send the form for people to fill up.
  5. Collect the responses.
  6. Done!
I've recorded a tutorial video on how to use Google Form as a teaching and learning tool in more detailed steps.

  2. Can be used to collect, analyze, and organize information of the students.
  3. Create unlimited forms.
  4. Gather feedback for professional students' development.
  5. Collaborate with co-workers at the same time to build surveys in working with their teams or departments.
  6. Used for lesson planning, professional development planning or surveys, and assessment forms.
  7. Gathering student test results to determine areas of need in making informed decisions for instruction.
  8. Able to track students' attendance and progress.
  9. Able to share a form, along with the results of that form in a spreadsheet, with as many people as we like.
  10. Forms created automatically saved in Google Drive.
  11. Responses or data obtained can be tranferred easily to Google Spreasheet.

STUDENTS :
  1. Free and easy to use.
  2. Uses fewer data to access.
  3. Time-saving as it is mobile-friendly.
  4. Become more excited to participate as it is very easy to use and different from the traditional way of learning.
  5. Broaden creativeness as the students observe a unique method of learning.

In a nutshell, I strongly believe that Google Form is a great Web 2.0 that can be used as a teaching and learning tool. This is due to the fact that it eases every user to gain information from each other. Not only that, but Google Forms is also used to improve students’ participation, engage them in their learning, and evaluate their learning. Moreover, it is user-friendly, easy to administer, and helps instructors save paper and time grading assignments. All in all, I hope more educators can start to learn how to include the usage of Google Forms as their teaching materials as it brings ease to the education system.
